ChronoWake Chat
Using this service, you can chat with other users of ChronoWake Chat, Google Talk, and any other service that utilizes XMPP–based instant messaging.
Additionally, using the Google Talk client (instructions below — currently only available for Windows), you can have multi-user chats, make unlimited, free PC-to-PC VoIP calls with anyone using ChronoWake Chat or Google Talk, leave voicemails, and more.
The easiest way to access ChronoWake Chat is to log into ChronoWake Mail. The chat service is available within your browser on the left side of the page by default, just like the chat within Gmail.
Windows Instructions
Google Talk Client Configuration
- Download and install the Google Talk client.
- Enter the following information:
- Username: user@chronowake.com
- Password: your password
- Click "Sign In".
Pidgin Configuration
- From the "Accounts" menu, select "Manage Accounts".
- Select "Add".
- Enter the following information:
- Protocol: Google Talk
- Username: your ChronoWake username (without any @ symbol or domain)
- Domain: chronowake.com
- Resource: CW
- Password: your password
- Remember password: [checked]
- Local alias: leave this field blank
- New mail notifications: [checked]
- Click "Save".
Macintosh Instructions
iChat Configuration
- From the "iChat" menu, select "Preferences...".
- Click "Accounts" along the top of the dialog box.
- Click the "+" button along the bottom to add a new account.
- Select "Jabber Account" from the "Account Type" drop-down menu.
- Enter the following information:
- Jabber ID: user@chronowake.com
- Password: your password
- Server: talk.google.com
- Click "Add".
- Highlight your new account in the "Accounts" section, and then click "Server Settings".
- Enter the following information:
- Server: talk.google.com
- Port: 5223
- Check the boxes next to "Connect using SSL" and "Allow self-signed certificates".
- Enter 'iChat' in the "Location" field.
Adium Configuration
- From the "Adium" menu, select "Preferences...".
- Click "Accounts", and select "Jabber".
- Enter the following information:
- Jabber ID: user@chronowake.com
- Password: your password
- Click the "Options" tab.
- Enter the following information:
- Connect Server: talk.google.com
- Resource: Adium
- Port: 5222
- Security: Use TLS encryption (if possible)
- Click "OK".
